SENSITIVE PERCEPTION
PAINTING

In my series "SENSIBLE PERCEPTION" I am concerned with the interface between inside and outside - a field of tension that affects us all. My paintings, most of which have an implied central division, are symbolic of casement windows. They function not only as a physical boundary between inside and outside, but also as a metaphor for human existence: the constant conflict between the longing for freedom and the inner need for protection and retreat.
Like windows, my paintings offer views in and out. On the one hand, they offer a view of the vastness of the world, with all its promises and challenges. On the other hand, they also allow a glimpse into my inner self, into the space of my thoughts. I use abstraction as a deliberate means of conveying the complexity of these feelings. I want to give the viewer the opportunity to develop their own associations. Each painting becomes an open space in which everyone can find themselves. Interpretation always remains individual - and that is the aim of my work. I want my art to speak a universal language that shows more than just the visible. It should speak to the invisible, the emotional, the unspoken and encourage reflection.
