ABOUT
BIOGRAPHY
Klaus Biliczky, born in Dinkelsbühl, lives and works in Neuendettelsau in Franconia. His artistic practice is situated within contemporary abstract art and encompasses painting, mixed-media works, and object-based pieces.
Beginning with an early, intensive engagement with drawing and painting, Biliczky initially developed a visual language inspired by Surrealism and Fantastic Realism. Pen and pencil drawings, as well as works in pastel, served as means to reflect on personal developmental phases and societal questions.
Alongside his artistic pursuits, Biliczky completed a commercial apprenticeship and studied advertising and applied graphics. The resulting professional experience in design, product development, and management had a lasting influence on his artistic thinking, manifesting in a pronounced sensitivity to structure, materiality, and conceptual decisions. At the same time, his artistic practice functioned as a deliberately autonomous, reflective counterpoint to functional and economic system logics.
As a co-founder of the artist group Art+Farbe, Biliczky was involved early on in collective exhibition contexts and actively participated in the discourse on contemporary artistic forms of expression. Further advanced training in painting and printmaking, including at the Akademie Wildkogel with renowned instructors, led to a gradual expansion of his artistic repertoire and an increasing focus on experimental techniques. Over time, his attention shifted more and more toward material, surface, and the creative process, while figurative representation receded and abstract modes of expression gained prominence.
Today, Biliczky’s work is firmly situated within the field of abstract art. It navigates the space between intuitive practice, conceptual reflection, and material experience. His oeuvre can be understood as an open space for thought and experience, reflecting perception, inner processes, and contemporary realities of life.
