For me, RUST and PATINA symbolize the “poetry of transience”, which is fascinating, mysterious and colourful. For years, I have been devoting myself to the “rusting” of pictures and objects in my own cycle of works and have been working intensively on the subject of OXIDTION, the natural formation of rust and patina. In doing so, I take an unusual approach: I do not simply simulate the impression of oxidized metal or patinated material, but allow real, original oxidation processes to occur on my works.  The natural chemical reaction gives my pictures a very special surface texture that gives the impression of having been aged over a long period of time.

My works are a tribute to the aesthetics of decay, the transcendent power of time and the beauty of the ephemeral. In a world that is often dominated by the search for perfection and permanence, I would like to invite the viewer to grasp the deeper meaning of the process of becoming and passing away. I believe that there is a unique potential for beauty in the decay, overlapping and change of matter that we often overlook in the idealized aesthetics of the new and intact.
