RUST OXIDATION
PAINTINGS
MIXED MEDIA
For me, rust and patina symbolize the “poetry of transience”—a poetry that reveals itself as fascinating, mysterious, and richly colored. For many years, I have devoted an independent body of work to the “rusting” of images and objects, engaging intensively with the theme of oxidation and the natural formation of rust and patina.
In doing so, I follow an unconventional path: rather than merely simulating the appearance of oxidized metal or patinated surfaces, I allow genuine, original oxidation processes to take place on my works. Through a natural chemical reaction, my images develop a distinctive surface structure that conveys the impression of aging formed over a long period of time.
My works are a homage to the aesthetics of decay, the transcendent power of time, and the beauty of impermanence. In a world often dominated by the pursuit of perfection and permanence, I seek to invite viewers to recognize the deeper meaning inherent in the process of becoming and passing away. I believe that it is precisely in decay, in layering, and in the transformation of matter that a unique potential for beauty resides—one that is often overlooked within the idealized aesthetics of the new and the unblemished.
